“Oh, dear!” said Mildred, the cow, “Today the vet is to visit the farm!” Everyone looked unhappy. Dr Bellows would poke them and check their teeth, ears and noses, and give them dreadful medicines and injections! Dr Bellows arrived in his old car that creaked and shuddered to a stop. There was no point hiding, for Farmer Ford would drag them to the barn for their check-up! So, one by one the animals and the birds lined up. But they got a surprise, for with Dr Bellows came a new nurse, Pat, very pretty in her uniform, and so kind. She patted and cuddled the animals and the birds, and whispered to them when Dr Bellows gave them their injections! “Well,” asked Dr Bellows, “Are we all done?” “Yes, Doctor,” said Pat, the nurse. The doctor picked up his bag, rubbing Honey–the horse’s muzzle.
