Soon after the death of Saul, David asked God what to do. God instructed him to go to the south of the Hebron, his own place. As soon as he reached the place, he was warmly and happily greeted by the people there. They declared him King and were happy about the same. On the other hand, Abner took Saul’s only son to the North and proclaimed him King. David’s and Abner’s generals were not friends and hated each other. Now there were two kings, who ruled different parts of the region. After seven years of Saul’s death, David became stronger.
