It has wonderful tufted ears, which have long tips. They are both diurnal and nocturnal. Caracals can go for long periods without water as the body fluids of animals they prey on can keep them hydrated for many days. The animals mate all year round; gestation lasts 69 to 81 days, and a kettle of up to six kittens is born.
