Buland Darwaza

The Buland Darwaza was built near Agra, India, in 1576 AD. The Buland Darwaza, also known as the Gate of Magnificence, was built in honour of Mughal Emperor Akbar, to celebrate his victory over Gujarat. It is the main entrance to the palace fort of Fatehpur Sikri. The monument is 54 metres high and is made of red and buff-coloured sandstone, with white and black marble decoration.

Amazing Fact: A fine example of Mughal architecture, the monument is the highest gateway in the world.
