It is an evergreen or semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial grass. It is deep sea blue in colour. Blue fescue is a lowgrowing, semi-evergreen ornamental grass noted for its finelytextured, silver-blue foliage. Foliage forms a dome-shaped, porcupine-like tuft of erect needle-like blade radiating upward and outward. Light green flowers with a purple tinge appear above the foliage in late spring to early summer, but are not very showy. Blue fescue is very heat-tolerant. It is an excellent grass as ground cover, border front or rock garden accent, edging plant or container.
