A mountain buck near Kushinagara once fell in love with a village doe. He had a great trishna (desire) for her. After a few days, the buck decided to confess his love to the doe. He began, “Oh my sweet beauty…” Just then, he slipped and fell into a puddle. Some tree fairies, sitting nearby, started laughing. One of the fairies did not laugh as she felt it was a warning. The buck followed the doe everywhere. At night, the doe set out for the village. She warned the mountain buck, “You have no experience of going into a village; don’t follow me.” However, the mountain buck did not heed the advice. Soon, the doe smelt a man. So, to save her life she let the buck go first. The hunter shot the mountain buck but missed. As the buck ran to the village, the wise fairy sitting on a tree-branch said to her friends, “See, blind love would have killed the buck today.”
Moral: Blind love may harm you.
