• Common name : Deer Fern, Hard Fern
• Scientific name : Blechnumspicant
• Family : Blechnaceae
• Native land : Europe and Western North America
Blechnum is an evergreen fern. It can grow up to 1 feet tall. It is one of the plants grown in the woodland garden. It is an adaptable fern growing well in light to deep shade. This fern is particularly distinctive because of its two different types of fronds (a large leaf of a fern). They are fertile and sterile fronds (those that produce spores and those that do not, respectively). Fertile fronds turn brown and wither by the end of summer, leaving the evergreen sterile rosette.
