Baishui Terraces, popularly known as White Water Terraces, are landforms with calcium carbonate deposits contained in spring water. The White Water Terraces are located in the Haba Snow Mountains, southeast of Shangrila County, China. These Terraces are said to have been 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 years old.
Why they are special: A truly scenic vista, the White Water Terraces resemble ‘a field left by fairies’. With spring water flowing down the mountain, huge white jade impressions are left in the green mountains. These Terraces cover an area of 3 sq.km.
