Interesting fact : The covering formed by the caterpillar to pupate is an extremely untidy mess and can be found on rock walls. This case keeps growing as the bag moth keeps adding material to the front.
This moth’s diet consists of algae and lichens. Not more than 20 mm in length, the adult female is many times confused with the beetle. The male leaves its case as an adult, but the female continues to live inside until breeding takes place. The female moth continues to breed and lay eggs in the case.
