Common name : Western Ragweed

Scientific name : Ambrosia psilostachya

Family : Asteraceae

Native land : North America, nearly all of the continental United States, and the Northern half of Mexico

It is a perennial herb. It grows like a slender, branching, straw-coloured stem to a maximum height near two metres, more often remaining under one metre tall. Leaves are lance-shaped to nearly oval, and they are divided into many narrow, pointed lobes. The stem and leaves are hairy. Western ragweed was used in teas for various medicinal purposes by several Amerindian tribes. This plant provides good grazing for wildlife and poor grazing for livestock.
