Ahmed Hassanein Pasha was born on 31st October 1889 in Cairo, Egypt, and he died on 19th February 1946 (aged 57 years) Cairo, Egypt. An Egyptian courtier and was also a writer, photographer and explorer, Ahmed discovered unknown water sources on his journey to Kufra which resulted in the making of new routes to Sudanic Africa. During this expedition he took photographs, samples, measured distances and took bearing and wrote in his diary about the traditions and the natural history enroute. He is also credited with writing the history and traditions of fierce and hostile tribe of Senissis in Libya. His pictures were published in the National Geographic Magazine.

Do you know: Ahmed Hassanein Pasha was an Olympic athlete. He competed at the 1920 and 1924 Olympics in Fencing.
