Aesop and the Box of Bread

Aesop was a servant to a very wealthy Master. The Master had many servants who took care of all his needs. But Aesop was the smartest of all the servants. He finished all his work quickly. He was also the Master’s favourite and obedient servant.
The Master was very fond of travelling. One day, he decided to go on a journey to the neighbouring town. He ordered his servants to pick up all the boxes. All the servants ran to pick up the light boxes. But Aesop picked up the box with the bread. The box with the bread was the heaviest.
All his fellow servants laughed at him. “Do you think you are the strongest? You will fall in the middle of the journey with such a heavy box,” said the fellow servants. But Aesop did not say anything. He quietly picked the box up and started walking.
As they started walking, the sun shone above their heads. All the servants struggled to pick up the bags. Aesop maintained a slow and steady pace.
The Master and the servants took a break and sat under the trees. Everyone asked Aesop to give the bread from his box. He took out half the bread and distributed it to all the servants and his Master.

Now, his box was much lighter and he easily carried it on his back.
They resumed walking and only stopped in time for dinner. All the servants were tired as their boxes were heavy. Aesop was again asked to distribute the bread. Now, his box was completely empty. All the servants were jealous of him as he only had to carry the empty box for the remaining part of the journey.
