It is now realized that happiness resides only in a small size of family. In the distant past, there was no such realization. It may be due to the reason that the country’s population had not grown to an alarming magnitude as now. In the past, there was also an all-round prosperity in India and things were available cheap and within people’s means. At present, the population of the country has grown so high that a realization has appeared that a small family or nuclear family is a happy family and the wants of the members of a small family can be satisfied better. A small family can live within its means. Children can be given good education, good clothes to wear and they can live in good houses with reasonably fair standard of living. Besides, some savings can be effected for the future. A small family is an ideal family.
