Once upon a time, a little gnome lived in the gardens of a village. He loved to creep into gardens at night and pull up plants. In the morning, he would hide in a tree-hollow and enjoy the shocked looks on the garden owners’ faces. Unknown to the gnome, the Moon Fairy watched his naughty antics from up above. One day, the Moon Fairy decided to teach the wicked gnome a lesson. She cast a burning spell on the plants and bushes. All the gardens surrounding the gnome’s house were bewitched. The gnome came out at night and started pulling up plants. Soon, he was burning all over. He began to wail in pain. The Moon Fairy came down to earth. She made him promise that he would never do such a thing again. Then, she applied some soothing moon balm on him. The pain and burning went away and the gnome was relieved. From that day onwards, the gnome never created difficulties for others.
