You will need:

  1. Large glass fish bowl
  2. Glass jar
  3. Sugar water + normal
    water
  4. Loose soil + sand
  5. Thin muslin cloth
  6. Rubber bands
  7. Black chart paper and
    tape
  8. More than 20 ants
    (from the same colony)

Collect these hardworking sturdy little bugs to create your very own ant farm.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Firstly, prepare your ant farm. Take a glass
jar and place it upside down inside the
    fish bowl.
  2. Next, take the loose soil and sand and mix
it. Loosely sprinkle the sand and soil mixture into the
fish bowl until the sides of the glass jar are covered.
  3. Add sugar and a few drops of normal water all over
    the soil.
  4. Next, go on a hunt in your backyard and find more
than 20 ants, specifically from the same anthill,
so that they may work together and may not fight.
  5. Take your ants and place them inside the ant farm.
  6. Use the rubber band to secure the muslin cloth over
the mouth of the fish bowl so that the ants may not
    escape.
  7. Lastly, take your black chart paper and tape and cover
the entire fish bowl, so as to give the ants the feeling
    that they are underground.
  8. Place this ant farm in a cool darkish space in your
    home.

RESULT

Remove the muslin cloth every day and add a few drops of water and some sugar into the soil so as to provide the ants with food. Remove the black chart paper for a few minutes every day to check on the progress of your ant farm. Gradually, the ants would have started working together creating nests, and even digging tunnels and rooms into the soil.
