You will need:

  1. Caterpillars or butterfly
    larvae (local pet stores)
  2. Flowers
  3. Twigs, small branches
    and leaves
  4. Soil
  5. Plastic dish
  6. Internet access
  7. Water

Butterflies look beautiful flitting from one flower to another. Create a habitat for them and enjoy watching them in your own backyard.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose a spot outdoors to create the habitat.
  2. Flowers like sunflowers, lilacs, etc. have the loads of nectar which is the
    main diet for butterflies.
  3. Next, find out through the Internet which types/ species of butterflies are local to which
    region. Hunt for or buy caterpillars and
    butterfly larvae.
  4. Place small branches, leaves and twigs
    around the habitat.
  5. Add soil and create a pyramid-like mound. Pour a little water onto it so as to make it muddy.
  6. Place your caterpillars and larvae in these mounds of soil.
  7. Add a small plastic dish near by and fill it with water.
  8. Observe your habitat and larvae daily.
