One day, Sadeye, the cyclop, was lazily swimming around in the ocean. He suddenly came upon Mishka, the mermaid. “Hello!” said Mishka, “Where did you come from? I’ve never seen you before!” “I have always lived here, just beyond those black rocks,” replied Sadeye, in his usual sorrowful manner. Mishka was a curious mermaid. “Why do you look so sad?” she asked Sadeye. “Oh! I have lived for a few centuries now. Life was good before; there is no place for a cyclop in the modern world,” replied Sadeye. “There is no special place for a mermaid either, but I am happy!” said Mishka. “How and why are you happy?” cried Sadeye. “My home, the ocean, is still around. I can do whatever I want here and so can you!” replied Mishka. ‘She’s right!’ thought Sadeye, ‘Maybe all I need to do is make some different plans that better suit this century!’ From then on, Sadeye lived a happier life.
