Ricksy, the pixie, loved to dance. All day long she danced along to her own tunes. She never walked anywhere. “Why walk, when you can dance?” she told everybody, with a merry smile. One day, a cousin named Werdo came to visit Ricksy’s family. He began to tease Ricksy. He said that dancing was only for festivals and parties. “It is not normal to dance instead of walking!” said Werdo. Slowly, Werdo’s words began to affect Ricksy. She stopped dancing. She stopped whistling. She went about her chores with a sad face and dragging footsteps. Ricksy’s mum felt sorry for her daughter. She asked Werdo to go back to his village. Then, she told Ricksy that she should not let others take away her originality. “All you want is dance, my dear,” she said, “It makes you happy and makes no one sad. Then it is entirely right to be who you are!” From that day on, Ricksy never stopped dancing.
