One day, Mulla Nasruddin was repairing his roof, and was interrupted by a stranger. “What do you want?” Mulla shouted at him from the roof. “Come down, so I can tell you,” the stranger replied. Mulla angrily climbed down the ladder. “Can you spare me some money?” asked the stranger. Mulla started climbing up the ladder. He turned to the stranger and said, “Follow me up to the roof.” When they both reached the roof, Mulla said, “No, you can’t have any money. Now get off my roof!” After the roof-repair, Mulla started digging outside. His neighbour asked him, “What are you working on?” Mulla replied, “There’s a lot of dirt on the road, so I’m digging a hole to bury it in.” “But what are you going to do with the dirt that you are digging out of this new hole?” said the neighbour. “Hey, I can’t attend to every single detail,” said Mulla, and he stormed into his house.
