Davy Crockett and the Coonskin

Davy-Crockett-and-the-Coonskin

A long time ago, in America, racoon fur or coonskin, was quite valuable. This fact turned out to be lucky for Davy Crockett. He decided to run for elections, and was campaigning in town one day. There was a big crowd gathered, when one of the men called out, “All this talk is fine, but I’m thirsty. I’ll believe that you can govern us, if you can get each of us a drink first.” Davy knew that the entire town would see it as a weakness, and he would not get any votes if he refused. So, he led them all to the local bar and ordered a drink for everyone. Of course the barman asked for money, which Davy didn’t have. Instead, he got up, grabbed a gun and walked into the woods. Within ten minutes, he came back with a handful of coonskins! The barman served the drinks and Davy Crockett won the elections.
