A little toad, named Tripod had three hind legs. The other toads teased him because he looked funny and different from them. One day, all the toads decided to go on a picnic to Farmer Brown’s animal farm. They reluctantly included Tripod in the picnic. They had just gone a little way when they all fell into the pit that Farmer Brown had prepared for the foxes. “What shall we do now? Farmer Brown will find us and fry us for dinner,” said the eldest toad. The toads tried to jump high to get out of the pit but failed. But Tripod’s third hind leg helped him to jump much higher and he was able to come out, much to the amazement of all. He quickly brought a long stick and dropped it into the pit. The toads climbed up the stick and finally escaped from the pit. Everyone rejoiced and thanked Tripod for saving them. Then on, the other toads always looked up to Tripod.
