Farmer Cory’s goat was jealous. He had bought a beautiful red jacket for his wife, with a velvet collar, and she looked so nice in it. Loretta, the farmer’s goat, longed for a red jacket! One day, Mrs Cory wore the jacket to the village and, when she returned, she put it out on the line for a bit of airing. Loretta had been gazing at it for a while. ‘I could just try it on once,’ she thought. And when Mrs Cory was busy in the kitchen, Loretta pulled the jacket of the line and trotted off to the barn with it. Mrs Cory was horrified when she found the jacket missing. There was a great hue and cry in the farmhouse as she hunted for it. Suddenly out came Loretta wearing the jacket! Mrs Cory went into fits of laughter, “That silly goat! She’s ruined my jacket! You had better get me another one, dear!”
