Once, there was a farmer who had two pets–a dog and a rabbit. One day, he held a competition between the dog and the rabbit. He hid a carrot and a bone in one of his fields. He was eager to see which animal would find the hidden objects first. The optimistic rabbit vigorously started looking for the carrot. He was sure he would find it, so he started digging all over. The pessimistic dog sniffed around a bit, then he just lay down on the ground, whining about how hard it was to look for one bone in such a huge field. Soon, he slept! The rabbit, on the other hand, kept digging. When there was no more place left to dig, the rabbit dug a tunnel right under the spot where the dog was lying. He found the carrot and the bone there! Thus the dog lost the competition due to his pessimism.
