The Bodhisattva took many births as an ascetic. But this time, he came as the most powerful ascetic in the world. He had many followers. During the same time, there was another ascetic who was envious of the Bodhisattva. He thought of a plan to remove the Bodhisattva from his path. He told one of the elephant-keepers to make drunk a fierce elephant and let it loose on the Bodhisattva’s path. So, the elephant was let loose. All the people in the street started running here and there. But the Bodhisattva calmly continued walking on his path. A man came running down the path and unintentionally dropped his baby at the Bodhisattva’s feet. Just as the intoxicated elephant was about to walk over them, the Bodhisattva kept his hand on the elephant’s head and quietly stroked it. The elephant became quiet and bowed its head in front of the Bodhisattva. Everyone was surprised to see this miracle.
Moral: Kind actions can do miracles.
