Biased Justice

Once, a Raja’s favourite chariot became wet in the rain. The royal dogs smelled the wet leather seats and greedily tore it up and ate it. The next morning, the Raja realised that it was the work of some dogs. He ordered all dogs, but not the royal ones, to be killed. The panicked dogs went to the wisest dog, named Manas, the Mindful One. Manas decided to meet the Raja. The Raja, was impressed to see the calmness on Manas face despite his cruel order. Manas said, “O Raja! Are you sure the dogs you are killing spoilt your chariot? No dog dares to enter the palace walls. Perhaps, the royal dogs are the real culprits.” The Raja sent for the royal dogs. When they were fed grass and buttermilk, they vomited the leather bits. The Raja was ashamed of his biased justice and called off his orders.

Moral: Biased justice is as bad as no justice.
