Marriage Celebrations (Academic)

Marriage is a joyful occasion. People of our country celebrate marriages of their sons and daughters with great pomp and show.
These days the marriages are mostly celebrated in hotels, banquet halls, party lawns and in farm houses.
Once, I received a marriage invitation from a family friend, who was celebrating his daughter’s marriage in a farm house. He had sent the invitation card to us with great love and affection, thus we made a programme to attend his daughter’s marriage.
We packed a costly gift in a golden foil paper and proceeded towards the venue to attend the marriage.
It was a great party. There were many stalls arranged on either sides to treat the guests with refreshments and meals. The waiters were coming again and again to serve juices and snacks to the people. The video was displaying the photographs of the people sitting on the chairs.
The stage, where the bride and the groom were supposed to sit was decorated with beautiful flowers. The colourful lights and bulbs attributed beauty in the joyful occasion. People were rejoicing with the festive mood. Children danced on the either side of the stage. A pop-singer was invited to enthral the guests. The dynamic singer entertained the people with her talent.
After sometime the groom came riding on an elegantly decorated mare with the marriage procession of around hundred people. Some of his friends were dancing Bhangra.
The marriage party was received at the entrance gate by the bride’s relatives. The bridegroom was made to sit on the stage. Later on the bride arrived adorned with beautiful ornaments and elegant pink coloured saree. She looked as charming as the fairy of the heavens. After sometime bride and groom were taken to perform religious ceremonies. The priest chanted mantras and the bride and bridegroom walked around the sacred fire for seven times. Both of them took vows before the holy name of God, that they would remain loyal to each other.
After enjoying the party we returned back to our home in car at around midnight.
