Why A Chameleon Shakes His Head

Once upon a time, a chameleon and a dog were friends. One day, the chameleon asked the dog, “Why do you sometimes go with the man?” The dog replied that he was friends with the man. Once, when a hunter and the dog went hunting, they killed an antelope and carried it to the hunter’s house. The chameleon followed them. The hunter cooked the meal and began to eat. Now, the dog approached the hunter to have some meat. But, the hunter took the stick and started beating him on the head. The poor dog ran away crying. The chameleon who saw everything also ran away. He stopped in the middle of the forest and started shaking his head. He cried, “Yangu, yangu, yangu.” This is the reason why a chameleon lives in the forest. Whenever he thinks of the big stick of the man, he starts shaking his head and says, “Yangu, yangu, yangu!” which means ‘too bad, too bad, too bad!’
