Where Did the Oil Go?

Once, while Sheikh Chilli was flying a kite, his mother asked him to get eight rupees’ worth of mustard oil from the market. She told him to get it carefully in a large tumbler. The shopkeeper filled Sheikh’s tumbler with oil worth seven rupees and asked, “Your tumbler is full; now where shall I pour the oil left?” Sheikh felt a little hollow space at the base of the tumbler. He quickly turned the tumbler upside down and asked the shopkeeper to pour one rupee’s worth of oil into that hollow space. The shopkeeper was shocked, as all the oil in the tumbler had spilled off. When he reached home, his mother asked him where the rest of the oil was. “Here!” said Sheikh, once again turning the tumbler up side down. “Oh God, you wasted both the time and money and now the oil, too!” said his weary mother. Meanwhile, the shopkeeper’s son appeared with some more oil, saying that Sheikh had dropped the oil back into the tin itself. Sheikh was still wondering where the oil in his tumbler disappeared!
