The Vivekananda Rock is a memorial built on a rock that is 500 metres off the coast of Kanyakumari, in 1970. The Vivekananda memorial is a popular tourist monument built to honour Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock. The design of the memorial combines together various traditional and contemporary styles of temple architecture from all over India.
Amazing Fact: The rock was always considered holy according to Hindu mythology, which stated that goddess Devi Kumari had blessed the rock.
