Vinoba Bhave (Historical Personalities)

Vinoba Bhave was a great scholar, philosopher and a spiritual leader of India. He believed in the supremacy of God and wanted to eliminate the disparity between rich and poor right from the very root.
Vinoba Bhave was born in the year 1895. He had full control over his mind and was away from ‘ego’ and ‘desires’. He had no other desire, except to serve the poor and downtrodden people of the nation. He told the government to provide the required land to the landless people. Lakhs of acres of land was provided to the poor people because of him. He didn’t want that the wealthy people should torture poor. He said, “Water, air and land are the free gifts of God. It should be distributed in accordance to the need.”
He believed in universal brotherhood. He would not compromise with his principles even if an influential person would try to tempt his mind with materialstic things for vested interests.
Each person on the earth was equally important to him, irrespective of caste, colour and creed. Once Mahatma Gandhi wrote to him, “I don’t know which adjectives should I give to you. I am greatly impressed by your loving nature and strong character.’’
Vinoba Bhave was a great patriot. He took active part in freedom movements and innumerable times went to jail.
He prompted the dreaded dacoits of Chambal to surrender Now, Vinoba Bhave wanted to prompt people to give land to the landless ones. He travelled miles bare footed and passed on his message.
He was awarded by highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. Vinoba Bhave died in the year 1982, after leading a fruitful life.
His selfless services for the mankind shall never be forgotten.
