Variety is the spice of life

Origin
It is a late 18th-century proverb. This phrase comes from William Cowper’s poem, “The Task” (1785).
Explanation
The proverb tells that a variety of things and ideas in the life of man brings him fun and joy. As the spices of life like joy and fun make him enthusiastic and enjoyable, similarly different flavours of spices add to the taste of food and make the food palatable. Each spice is different in flavour and they add to the taste of food. To increase the taste of food and for better intake of food, we add spices of different flavours while preparing the food we want. The tasteless or less tasted food is neglected to be taken in. Different flavours are needed for the different dishes. Otherwise, the same flavour loses its taste after sometime because the variety of spices makes the food eatable. Doing lot of different things and interacting with all sorts of people, etc. is a way to make life more interesting. New and exciting experiences make life more interesting. If we make changes in our life, we could challenge the sameness and lead more meaningful life.
Examples
I know we usually spend summers at the beach, but I’m thinking we should try camping. After all, variety is the spice of life.
I have to work in the heat of Sudan one week and the cold of Alaska the next, but I suppose variety is the spice of life.
