Eva was staying with her friend Sue and her parents. One night, lying in cosy beds they giggled and talked. They could see themselves in a large mirror opposite them. It was a full moon night. The silvery light poured into the room through the open windows. Eve thought she saw a shadow slip under the bed, but went to sleep. An hour later, Eva woke up with a start, looked hard at the mirror, and shook Sue. “Wake up, Sue; I want some chilled water now,” she said. Sue reluctantly got out of bed, grumbling, “Why must I also go?” Eva grabbed Sue’s arm and rushed to her parents’ room and said, “There was someone below our bed. I saw two huge feet in the mirror!” Sue’s father rushed and checked Sue’s room. He saw muddy footsteps from the window to the bed and back. He quickly closed the window, wondering, ‘What kind of monster had such huge feet?’
