Types of letter (Dynamic School Letter Writing)

1. Private Letters : The letters which are sent to friends and relatives are called private letters.
2. Business Letters : These letters are written mostly by the businessmen. They serve the purpose of a business.
3. Social Letters : The letters sent to invite people to parties, functions and ceremonies are called social letters.
For small children, we shall only explain the art of writing private letters and social letters.
A good letter must have the following elements :
(a) Clarity : Be clear in what you want to say. Don’t be confused while writing, otherwise others will also get confused as they would not be able to understand what you want to say.
(b) Corrections : Write correctly. Don’t do spelling mistakes.
(c) Completeness : Don’t write incomplete letters. Be complete in conveying your message.
(d) Courtesy : Be friendly, polite and respectful while conveying your message.
(e) Avoid Exaggeration : Don’t exaggerate the things, when there is no need to do so. If you are able to convey your message in a few sentences, then be brief and to the point.
The main ingredients of a good letter is that it should be polite, decent, clear and accurate.
