Lucy groped in the darkness. She wondered if this had been a good idea, after all. After a round of truth or dare with her college friends, she agreed to explore the forest that surrounded their campsite. Crackle! The twigs crunched under her feet. Her footsteps echoed, mingling with the chirp of the crickets. “Thud!” Lucy looked behind. A large branch had crashed to the ground. ‘Must be an old branch,’ she thought. She crept forward. Suddenly, the ground caved in under her. She fell into a very deep pit. “Help! Alice, Bob, Harry! Is anybody there?” she yelled. “Somebody, pull me out.” There was deathly silence. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her collar, pulled her up and out of the pit, roughly setting her down on the ground. She looked around. None could be seen. Lucy hurried back towards the camp, thinking her friends had played a prank. However, she was bewildered to see them fast asleep near the fire.
