Too many cooks spoil the broth

Origin
This proverb originated in 1575.
Explanation
When too many people work together on a project, the result is inferior. Too many persons involved in managing an activity can ruin it. In a kitchen, if there are many cooks cooking the same soup and each one adds something he thinks is needed, the resulting soup will taste terrible. Likewise, when too many people take up a job or project, they are likely to make a mess of it due to lack of coordination. Unless there is proper planning and demarcation of responsibility, the job will not be done. This means that where there are too many people trying to do something, they make a mess of it.
Examples
If everybody is going to give orders, we’ll never get the job done. Too many cooks spoil the broth.
The director never asks more than 10 people to work with him in his projects, and he wants the best 10. He always says, “Too many cooks spoil the broth.”
