Once, a tigress came into a village and killed some cattle. So, the villagers dug a pit to trap her. As planned, the tigress fell into the pit; some villagers threw stones at her, for fun. “Please don’t kill me,” pleaded the tigress, “I have cubs waiting for me. I hurt my foot while hunting in the forest and so I came to the village to look for easy food.” But the cruel villagers threw some more stones at her before nightfall. That night, the tigress gathered all her strength, crawled out of the pit and went back to her cubs. As the tigress was wounded, she rested till she was strong again. After two weeks, she went to the village and attacked only the cruel villagers. “I harmed only those who hit me,” she said to the other villagers before going back to the forest. The villagers never saw the tigress again.
