Soon, after his mother had died, Jim’s father married again. His new step-mother was beautiful with raven black hair, milky white skin and bright red lips. One night, Jim heard the door creaking. He looked out and saw his step-mother walking towards the fields. Jim was horrified to see that her feet did not touch the ground. He started following her. Jim was startled when suddenly she turned into a bat and flew away. Jim started to return home but a bat flew at his face and tried to scratch him. He screamed loudly. Just then, his father came, caught the bat and put it in a cage. “Son, I suspected your new mother was not normal. So I followed both of you tonight.” “But what will we do with her now?” “Keep her in the cage and feed her. She will not become human inside that. So, we are safe now.” Saying this, Jim’s father hugged him tightly.
