Long ago, there was a poor shoemaker who was left with nothing but the leather to make one pair of shoes. He decided to make the shoes next day. The next morning, he found a pair of nicely finished shoes on the table. Soon, a customer came in and bought them for a good price. Then, he bought leather to make two pairs of shoes and next day found the two pairs of finished shoes on the table. It went on and soon, the shoemaker became a wealthy man. A few days before Christmas, the shoemaker and his wife hid behind a curtain and saw the two elves working on the shoes. The wife said, “I will make some new clothes for the elves to thank them for their help.” When the elves found the new warm clothes, they danced with joy and never came back. And the shoemaker and his wife lived happily, thereafter.
