Hans was considered a fool and was very poor. He went off to earn a living. He received a golden goose after working hard. He was going home and stopped at an inn to rest at night. The innkeeper’s three daughters longed to steal some golden feathers at night. But they got stuck as soon as they touched the goose! Hans picked up the goose early in the morning without noticing the girls, and walked off, but when the priest saw the three girls running after him he tried to stop them. He too got stuck. Two farmers who tried to stop them, a blacksmith and a baker’s boy all were stuck. A princess who never smiled, saw them from her palace window and burst out laughing! The king had promised her hand to anyone who made her smile. He kept his promise. He called Hans to marry the princess. They lived very happily thereafter.
