Once there was a crow who did not want to be a crow. ‘I want to be like someone else,’ he thought. He flew around, searching for a role model. But he couldn’t find anyone. He decided to rest on the branch of a tall tree near a mountain. It was then that he spotted an eagle swooping down. The eagle caught a rat in his beak and soared high, back to his nest. ‘That’s who I want to be,’ thought the crow. He said to the eagle, “Please take me as your disciple. I want to be like you.” The eagle said, “Go away. I cannot teach you to be like me.” But the crow was adamant. He tried to copy the eagle’s moves. He swooped down, but lost control and hit his beak hard on the ground. The crow learnt the hard way not to copy anyone again.
