Once upon a time, there was a wicked pigeon. He was disobedient and never listened to his mother. Whatever she said, he did the opposite. If she asked him to go to the mountains, he would go to the field. When his mother was on her deathbed she thought, ‘I want to be buried on a quiet mountain side. But if I say so, my son would do the opposite.’ So, she asked him to bury her in the sand bar of the river after her death. When she died, for the first time the pigeon realised that he should have listened to his mother. So, now, he did what she had said. He buried her in the sand bar along the river. Soon, the rain started and the river began to rise up. The pigeon was worried that the grave would be washed away. So, whenever the weather is rainy the pigeon recalls this and cries, “To-fo-poppo, poor, dear mother!”
