Once, a poor boy was selling goods door to door. The tiring day had made him very hungry, so he thought of asking for something to eat at the next house. Instead of food, he asked for water. He looked quite hungry at the lady of the house, so she brought him a glass of milk. “How much should I pay for this?” asked the boy. “You owe me nothing,” said the lady. The boy left after thanking her. After many years, the lady fell seriously ill. She was taken to the hospital in the neighbouring city. The famous Dr. Howard was called to treat her. As soon as he heard the name of her town, he went to her room immediately. When the lady was completely cured of her illness, the doctor bore all the expenses of the treatment and wrote something on the edge of the bill. The bill was sent to the woman’s room. When she opened the bill, she read the words: ‘PAID IN FULL WITH ONE GLASS OF MILK. –Dr. Howard Kelly.’
