The prince had lost his way in the forest. Finding a hut, he knocked at the door. A very old man opened it and welcomed him with a toothless grin. “Welcome,” said the old man. The prince saw three cats, two dogs and a thin pretty girl inside. She was stirring a large cauldron. “Come and drink some wine,” invited the old man. The prince looked at the girl who shook her head, clearly telling him not to drink the wine. The prince acted as if he had been drinking, but poured the wine away, and then looked as if he had been asleep. The old man went out to fetch something. The girl quickly whispered, “He’s a wicked wizard and has turned men into cats and dogs!” As soon as the old man came in, the prince killed him and the animals returned to their true form. The prince married the kind girl!
