A hungry jackal was searching for food. Deep in the forest, he saw a drum under a tree. As he went near it, a twig fell on the drum. Hearing the sound, the jackal thought an animal was trapped inside the drum. He wanted to eat it. The jackal tried to tear open the top of the drum with his paws. Instead, he ended up beating it loudly, and the noise woke up King Lion. “Why are you making so much noise?” he asked. The jackal said, “Your Majesty, there is an animal inside this drum. Tear the top of the drum and have your meal.” The lion was hungry, so he tore open the top of the drum, only to find it empty. King Lion roared, “You woke me up. I am hungry, and the drum is empty. I shall have you for lunch.” The lion ate the jackal.
