The great betrayal

Germany was preparing for the final assault on its enemies in full belief that it should win. Then, the enemies namely France, Britain and USA hatched a dangerous conspiracy. They managed to shut down Germany’s ordnance factories. The workers were manipulated to go on strike. The production of war material came to a sudden halt.
The press of the enemy countries went on town with the news. The German soldiers were shocked. The demoralisation set in. How could they fight on without ammunition? For them now battle meant certain death or suicide.
This predicament of the German soldiers gladdened the hearts of the enemies. Four years of war was getting them nowhere. At no stage the victory for any side looked possible. The strike turned the tide in the favour of the enemies of Germany. The German army had no option left but to accept the defeat.
Adolf Hitler in politics
In the November end of 1918 Adolf returned to Munich and went to his Regiment depot, now in the charge of Soldier Committee. He was not satisfied with the administrative system.
So, he went to Troynstin with his friend Earnest Schmider.
In March 1919 he came back to Munich again. The situation in the country was not peaceful. There was a kind of upheaval all around. Then, Eiswar died. More upheavals followed intensifying the struggles for power. It ended in establishments of the dictatorship of the councils. The engineers of the upheavals called it a revolution. Adolf Hitler thought that it was another of the Jewish conspiracy to usurp the power. So, Adolf Hitler opposed them.
On 27 April, 1919 arrest warrants against Adolf were issued. Three policemen went to arrest him but they failed because he threatened them with his service rifle. The policemen fled in fright. After all Adolf was army Lance Corporal.
Munich got liberated by soldiers. A few days later Adolf was ordered to present himself before a Enquiry Commission. The commission was set up to keep an eye in the revolutionary activities in the Second Infantry Regiment. Adolf was made a member of the commission.
Some days later Adolf was ordered to contribute to the speeches meant to be delivered to the soldiers. The aim of the speeches was to teach the soldiers discipline and thought. Becoming a part of the commission gave Adolf a chance to interact with the soldiers and discuss the political situations. It was the beginning of Adolf Hitler’s political career. Through this process he formed a coterie of like minded soldiers.
The group formed a new party called ‘German Labour’ Later after some debate the name of the party was changed to ‘Social Revolutionary Party’ because its ideology was a revolutionary type of its own brand.
Adolf was a good orator who could arouse the feelings of the listeners. His thoughts were fiercely nationalistic. He delivered a smashing speech at Munich that cast a spell on the soldiers. It got him appointed as teacher of the Munich base of the regiment. Adolf Hitler made good use of this opportunity to propagate his own ideas and the ideology. He kindled the fire of Germanism and patriotism in the hearts of the soldiers. His speeches created frenzy among his listeners. He was emerging as a magnetic character. The Adolf part of him was getting left behind and he was gaining popularity as Hitler as he delivered more and more hitting speeches. Somehow his surname represented his character. The very word ‘Hitler’ would excite the soldiers.
Once he said during a speech, “Friends! We are the sons of a race the stories of the valiant talks of which fills the pages of the history. Our race never accepted defeat in the past. But where is that spirit today? Why we lack in self confidence? The fact remains that we Germans had been great and shall always remain so. Our defeats were the handiwork of our own traitors. We must forget the defeat and prepare for the revenge. The victory will be ours.”
The speech drew thunderous applause from the soldiers who also screamed their approval of his thoughts. Now he was only ‘Hitler’. His first name Adolf had become redundant because the second name correctly represented him.
Hitler used to say that some ambitious politicians to build their future were in the habit of taking in hand mega projects that were impossible to practically achieve or implement. They kept postponing the implementation over some pretext or the other to retain the public support. He thought that only the people who worked for their ideals and thoughts without wishing any accolades made superior politicians.
Hitler was now delivering speeches to huge gatherings of soldiers. Once he addressed to them, ‘My true nationalist comrades! We have to fight for our racial bretheren and the fatherland to safeguard the existence of our own people, to arrange for the living of our children and to ward of all damages to our father- land…’
Thus he always emphasised on patriotism and racial brotherhood.
