A hungry fox was wandering in a forest in search of food.

Suddenly, it saw a big creeper laden with bunches of ripe and juicy grapes.

The fox looked at the grapes with greedy eyes and licked its lips.

It was sure that it would eat them up and satiate its hunger. But it was feeling tired.

So, the fox sat down for a while to take rest.

After feeling refreshed it jumped as high as it could to get at the grapes. But the bunches were too
high for it.

The fox once again rested for a while and then tried another bold attempt. But it failed again.

Two rabbits sitting behind the bushes were watching all this happening.

Finally the fox gave up trying anymore and decided to go away.

Then one rabbit said, “Why don’t you try a few attempts more?”

Instead of accepting failure it remarked, “I thought those grapes to be ripe and juicy. But they must be quite sour.”

Then rabbit said to his mate, “People hate what they can’t get.”
Moral: It’s easy to despise what you cannot have.

Truth Itself Speaks
Once there was a trader of goats who had a large flock.

People came from far and near to buy goats from him.

He was earning a lot from his trade.

He had employed a shepherd who took the flock to a pasture early in the morning daily.

After sunset he took them back and shut them up in the pen.

One day, as usual the shepherd was about to drive the flock back home when he saw some goats has gone astray.

So, he tried to call them back by calling and whistling.

All the strayed goats returned and joined the flock. But one stubborn goat didn’t obey him.

Realising that the goat was taking no notice of his calls, the shepherd threw a stone at it.

The stone hit one of its horns and it got broken.

The shepherd got frightened and begged the goat not to tell the trader about it. The goat replied, “You silly fellow! The broken horn will itself cry out the reality.”
