Once, there were a goat and an ass. They were best friends and lived on the hill. They both grazed together on the green pasture of the hill. One day, a farmer was ploughing his field; meanwhile he saw both the goat and the ass grazing there. The farmer took both the animals and brought them in his home. They worked hard together and ate a heartful meal. But after some days the goat envied the ass because the ass could eat a lot of food.
One day, the goat said to the ass, “I pity you! You work so hard, you have to carry heavy burdens on your back. Why don’t you fall down in the ditch and pretend to be ill? That way you can rest for some time.” The silly ass did just that. But he was badly hurt after falling into the ditch. His master called a doctor who advised that a goat’s lung should be rubbed on the ass’s wounds. The farmer killed the goat to heal the ass. Thus by wrongly advising the ass, the goat brought about his own death.
