The Face

Shirley’s parents had finally agreed to her spending a night with Becky at her grandparents’ home. It was an old house in the country. The girls reached the place around dinner time and went to bed early. It was past midnight. Shirley awoke feeling parched. “Becky, I need water,” said Shirley, shaking her awake. Both the girls marched down to the pantry. Shirley peeped into a bedroom on the way. She stifled a cry at what she saw. There was a face on the wall. Its nostrils flared and eyelids blinked at Shirley. Quickly, the girls grabbed a bottle of water and were going back, when Becky grabbed Shirley. There, outlined against a wall in the corridor was a black face. The face with two horns gave a toothy malicious grin. The girls screamed till the grandparents awoke! The police were called in. They found wet footprints in front of the face. None of the footprints led out of the house.
