Once, the king was so happy with Tenali that he gave him an entire town as a gift but forgot about it soon after.
So Tenali kept looking for instances to remind the king of his promise. One day, an Arab came to the kingdom with a camel.
Since no one had seen a camel before, everyone gathered to see it. Seeing the camel the king said it was very ugly with a long neck and a hump.
Tenali used this opportunity to remind the king of his forgotten promise and said that the camel must be a king in previous birth that forgot his promise and was, hence, punished like this.
This reminded the king of his promise and he instantly made arrangements for the town to be gifted to Tenali.
