Once, there was a boy named Jemmy who liked nothing more than to win. He played all kinds of games and sports, and always won. He was expert in every game including football, cricket, cards and video games. He knew all kinds of tricks and cheating. But he could not play tricks every time. It worked only when nobody noticed him. He always won without being caught. Everyone treated him like a champion. The other children were jealous of him and stopped playing with Jemmy. Anthony was the only child who played with Jemmy. He was a poor boy and younger than he. He always defeated Anthony by using tricks and cheating and enjoyed at the poor boy’s expense. He made Anthony look silly. But soon, Jemmy started getting bored with all this. He wanted something more interesting. One day, he heard about the national video game championship. He decided to apply, where he would find some competitors worthy of himself.
Jemmy was very confident as he knew all the tricks of the game. He was already feeling like a winner but the feeling lasted only up to the time he started playing the game. He tried to use all the tricks he knew, but the judges did not let any of his tricks work. Soon, he started losing his confidence. He felt very embarrassed. He understood that it was difficult for him to win fairly.
Finally, the game was over and Jemmy couldn’t beat even a single competitor. He was soon eliminated and sat quietly in a corner. Finally, the judges announced the name of the winner. It was Anthony, the poor boy who learnt skills from each defeat and had been transformed into a real champion. Jemmy realised that the poor boy was more intelligent and capable than he. He learnt from all his defeats and became an expert. He realised that winners do not do different things but do them differently. From that day, Jemmy never used tricks to win.
